Oh what fun, my class this term is Strategic Management focusing on the SWOT theory not to be confused with the SWAT theory which I was temped to implement with more than on employee. Maybe I should have started that handyman company. Oh I did get out and run today, 3 good miles it felt great!

Well it has been a while. December was pretty good, Christmas was great fun, Michigan lost as usual, job prospects were looking up, running was going ok. January so far has been a bust. The good things: Family is wonderful thing to have, my best friend and life partner Violet has been solid support through the ups and downs of trying to sort out my life which is an interesting thing to do in your 50s. The kids are finding there way which makes me happy becuase they are moving on as they should and makes me sad because they are moving on as they should. Then there is Dexter the wonder mutt who just plain makes me happy.

The not so good things: I am barely running at all. The job prospects suck right now, my job here at the university is coming to and end. It is hard to explain how difficult I have found it to be in this department trying to pick up and run a project that is 2 years old and is one of the most disorganized things I have ever come across. My days have turnied into coming in here, looking at job postings, applying for jobs and trying to get some work done. So they will continue on with someone else, I wish them luck. So as I refocus the job search I see the possibilities of a drastic career change looming. Should be interesting.

Time to run...

Well today was my first day back to training in earnest for the Freescale Austin Marathon http://www.motorolamarathon.com/ . Well in my case half marathon. An easy 4 miles indoors, ten degrees and ice kept me inside. It should be a good break from the doldrums of the Midwest this February. This will be my second time to run this race. It is a fast net downhill course in one of the coolest cities in the US. Running has been tough since my last marathon, a bad case of the post marathon blues.
Tomorrow will be an attempt at 400s after warming up with Dexter the wonder mutt.

Dexter and I do some remodeling

After a good workout at the gym today it was time for Dexter and I to do some work on the basement renovation that has drug on now for almost two years. For those of you who know me you know why, for those who don’t it involved a Harley, ash fault, and some titanium holding various body parts together.

TreeHuggers Unite

Ok, so I have this blog.  I got it so I could make comments on other blogs but have not done much of that either.  I realized this morning that I have become a true Ann Arbor Tree Hugger.  The revalation came to me as I was driving the dog to daycare in my Prius.  This requires much thought...
